\nDearest Videos. In the darkness of the Podroom \u2013 word play meaning
\n\u201ca basement\u201d \u2013 gallery of the Belgrade Cultural Centre, which
\nindeed is located in a basement and has no natural light, the screens
\nand the projections flicker and almost unrecognizable sounds are
\naudible. The works are sensible in their colour range and each work
\nis presented in the space in a completely different way \u2013 from a
\nprojection covering a whole wall, via projections over objects,
\nto projections on different screens and monitors. Each work vibrates
\nin its own way, yet they all shape one impression. Moreover,
\nthe works give an impression that one author made them,
\nand not five. The general sensation is calming and inviting for the
\nvisitors to get to know one work after the other, and
\nto discover them throughout the space and in the hidden rooms.
\nEach work repeats one action, yet each work gives off a different
\nsensation. The repetition in the video works, or what is called
\n\u201ca loop\u201d, presents a sign of contemporary time \u2013 an endless repetition
\nof identical goods, commercials and so on. The artist Antoanetta
\nMarinov idiosyncratically approaches this phenomenon. On the one
\nhand, she steps out of the repetition of her own works, even when it
\nrelates to an unfamiliar audience, by bringing a small group of artists
\ntogether with whom she presents the works in Belgrade gallery
\nPodroom, and on the other hand \u2013 not only the actions presented in
\nthe videos show pointless bits of the everyday which moreover repeat
\nad infinitum, but she is utterly fascinated by how much she can
\nbring these actions out in the smallest possible amount, and yet they
\nstill retain a distinct artistic charge.
\nSomewhere in the darkness, moving films reveal intentionally
\nsubdued artistic gestures, which are repeated, and which,
\nin combination with their natural sounds, recall children mechanical
\ntoys. There is no beginning and there is no end.<\/p>\n
